A Process Server is a person who delivers notices of lawsuits and other legal documents (called Service of Process).

Typically, in a lawsuit, the process server is hired by the plaintiff. The Process Server delivers the notice of lawsuit and/or other legal documents to the defendant and creates a record that such documents were delivered.

A Process Server is the person who serves/delivers legal documents or “processes” (such as summons or subpoenas) to a party. The process server is also responsible for recording the fact of service of such documents.

After a Process Server delivers something, they submit an affidavit to the court showing proof that someone, or some company, has “been served”.
